Join us for an evening dedicated to celebrating the uniqueness of our community through the Arts. Join us for student and Community Performances, Art Displays, Make & Take Crafts, Immersive Arts experiences, and more!

Vocal Music Showcase: Join us for an exciting event showcasing the incredible talents of our students from elementary through high school. Enjoy special performances by the Fourth Grade Younity Choir (featuring students from Avondale, Frazer, and Taft), the Plain Local Schools Youth Choir, Glenwood Select Choir, Oakwood Select Choir, GlenOak Notables, and GlenOak Drifters.

You’ll also have the opportunity to meet our outstanding Vocal Music Department teaching staff and learn about the incredible opportunities for students at Glenwood, Oakwood, and GlenOak High School. 

Celebrate the music magic and be inspired by the voices of Plain Local students!

EVENT ACTIVITIES AND INFORMATIONAL BOOTHS:
Event activities and informational booths will take place throughout the building, with plenty to explore. To help you navigate, 100-level classrooms are located on the first floor, while 200-level classrooms are on the second floor. “M” classrooms can be found in the main hallway on both levels and “P” classrooms are in the performing arts hall near the theater. All activities will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

First Floor Locations: 

  • Hair Tinsel Station: Add a pop of color and sparkle to your hair! Stop by and let our talented Cosmetology students add tinsel to your hair—free of charge. It’s a fun way to shine and show off your style! Location: M123 (Cosmetology Room, across from the Lower B Commons)
     
  • GlenOak Student Business Showcase: Support student-led businesses! Students will be showcasing and selling their custom products, offering a great opportunity to support GlenOak-run businesses. Featured businesses include Earthwise, Adventure Stark, Busy Bees, Bliss Box, Blanket Blessing, and 3D Art created by Animation and Graphic Design students. Don’t miss this chance to see the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our students in action! Location: Lower B Hallway Wing
     
  • Grab and Take Activity: Check out the creative talent of our 8th Grade Entertainment Technology students, who have designed a unique Plain Local Schools Coloring Book! Be sure to grab a copy and enjoy their amazing artwork that celebrates our district. Location: Lower C Commons
     
  • Craft and Face Painting: Get creative with the Spanish Honor Society and Mas Amor Club from GlenOak High School! Craft your own Alebrijes (clay spirit animals) and enjoy some colorful face painting. It’s a hands-on way to celebrate art and culture! Location: C111
     
  • International Baccalaureate Showcase: Did you know GlenOak High School is the only International Baccalaureate World School in Stark County? Stop by to hear firsthand experiences from students and learn more about this prestigious program. This is a great opportunity to see what makes the IB program so unique! Location: C104
     
  • Just Plain Dance Poster Signing! Stop by to sign a poster and wish your school’s Just Plain Dance Team good luck! Learn how you can support our staff and the Plain Local Schools Foundation while checking out the impressive Just Plain Dance Trophies. Don’t miss the chance to meet a special guest at this display! Location: Theater Hallway
     
  • ArtsInStark Informational Table: Stop by to learn more about ArtsInStark and explore what’s happening in the vibrant art scene across Stark County. Find out about exciting programs, events, and opportunities in the local art community! Location: Theater Hallway
     
  • Alice and Wonderland  Jr. Tickets: The Theater Box Office will be open tonight for ticket sales to Alice in Wonderland JR., performing at Oakwood Middle School on February 7 & 8, 2025. Stop by to grab your tickets and pick up a fun Alice in Wonderland Coloring Sheet while you’re there! Location: Theater Box Office
     
  • Let’s Mime Activity! Join our talented Theater students as they teach students and adults the art of miming. Learn the basics of pantomime and ask how your student can get involved in our Theater Department, open to grades 5-12! Location: P122 (Black Box Theater)

  • Joining Band: Elementary students and their families can meet our Instrumental Band instructors to learn more about joining the band. Find out how to rent an instrument if your child is interested, and even sample a variety of instruments to see what inspires them. This is a great opportunity to learn how students can get involved in the band starting in 5th grade at Glenwood Intermediate School. Don’t miss the chance to explore the joy of music! Location: P135 (Band Room) 
  • Joining Strings: Elementary students and their families can meet our Strings instructors to learn more about joining Strings. Find out how to rent an instrument if your child is interested, and even sample a variety of instruments to see what inspires them. This is a great opportunity to learn how students can get involved in Strings starting in 5th grade at Glenwood Intermediate School. Don’t miss the chance to explore the joy of music! Location: P136 (Choir Room)  

Second Floor Locations: 

  • Performer Meet and Greet: Don’t miss the chance to meet the talented casts of these amazing productions! Snap a photo with the cast of "Alice in Wonderland JR." from Oakwood Middle School’s Theater Department, the cast of "Junie B. Jones" from the Players Guild, and the cast of "Cinderella with a Twist" from the GlenOak High School ballet. It’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate the amazing talent in our community! Location: Main Commons
     
  • Plain Local Alumni: If you’re a Plain Local alumnus, be sure to stop by the table in the Main Commons at the circular desk. Sign up for alumni updates and learn more about how to stay connected with Plain Local Schools! Location: Main Commons Circular Desk 
     
  • Stark County Library Informational Table: Stop by to discover all the exciting events and programs the Stark County Library offers for all ages! From resources to activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss out on learning more about this valuable community resource! Location: 2nd Floor Library Entrance
     
  • Living Art Exhibit: Experience art like never before! Oakwood Middle School presents Living Art, where students bring famous works of art to life. Learn fun facts directly from the "Living Artist" forms and enjoy this unique, interactive showcase! Location: Upper Main Hallway
     
  • Make-and-Take Activity: Join the GlenOak Arts department for a hands-on artistic activity that will showcase the amazing ability of the brain and creativity. Location: M229 
     
  • Illuminated Lanterns Craft: Join the Plain Local Elementary Arts department to create vibrant paper lanterns by decorating their exteriors with various media, then illuminate them from within using battery-powered LED lights for a delightful and engaging make-and-take project. Location: M231
     
  • Family Crest Craft: Join the Glenwood Arts department to design and create your own family crest, a personalized symbol that represents your family’s values, interests, and traditions. Get creative and showcase what makes your family special! Location: M233 

You Don’t Want to Miss It:

  • Art Displays: As you explore GlenOak High School this evening, take a moment to admire the incredible art projects created by our talented students, from elementary all the way up to high school. Artwork will be featured in the main commons and displayed throughout the school, showcasing the creativity and skill of our Plain Local students!
     
  • Battle of the Brush: Head to the upper bridge to watch GlenOak students compete in a live art showdown! During the evening, they’ll create stunning artwork while vying for your votes. Be sure to stop by at 7:45 PM when the winning piece will be chosen by your applause and displayed in the GlenOak Commons for the rest of the year. Don’t miss this exciting creative competition!
     
  • Selfie with Ernie the Eagle: Keep an eye out for our favorite mascot, Ernie the Eagle, flying around the school! Be sure to stop Ernie for a selfie and capture the fun. Email your photos from this evening to contact@plainlocal.org for a chance to be featured on our social media channels!
     
  • Refreshments: Thank you to the Plain Local Schools Foundation for providing refreshments this evening at the Main Commons.
